ADOPTED!

Quince
Young
Male
Domestic Rabbit

Quince is a very sweet bunny who's still a bit shy about the big world around him. We think, in time, he will get more used to people and be more outgoing. We strongly recommend a quiet home for this little guy. Too much noise and movement will make him stay shy and hesitant to venture out to explore his surroundings. Quince enjoys being petted and quickly lays down for that. He definitely has some energy to burn off, but also enjoys just hanging out and relaxing. If his new family goes nice and slow with him, this handsome boy is going to make a great addition to his new home. Maybe he's the right bunny for your family!

Take a chance on me!

SCUBA

Buckaroo
Adult
Male
Rabbit

Buckaroo is a very active bunny. He'll need lots or room to roam and run! He's really a sweet bunny and very easy to pick-up. He'll tolerate being held for short periods of time, but of course, prefers to be on the ground. And, we are betting that he might like a friend. If his new family is interested in that, ask us to help find him one. He is a little hesitant at first to sit for petting but does enjoy it. In Rabbit Romper Room he enjoyed running, stretching and exploring. He wasn't too interested in toys but should still be offered them. Ask to meet this active bunny and you'll see why so many people love having a rabbit be part of their family.

Take a chance on me!

Prince
7 year old
Male
Lop Eared Rabbit

Prince was obviously loved by his previous family but unfortunately is now looking for a new home. Prince is very easy to pick-up and tolerates being held for short periods of time. He likes being petted but doesn't seek out people for attention. However, we think in the right home that will change. He obviously enjoys attention and love. Rabbits need time outside of their enclosure to burn off energy and to kick up their feet! A long hallway or a room they haven't been in before will do the trick. Getting out of their enclosure for 2-3 hours a day is critical. Not only does it help with boredom, but it helps with moving their food through their delicate system. Ask to meet this Prince! We know you'll see how royally splendid he his.

Nazu & Nunu
1 year old
Male
Budgie

Nazu was purchased at a pet store and brought here when his family had to move. We thought he might like a friend and found Nunu for him. We don't usually put a boy/girl together, but we feel confident that their new family won't put any nesting material in their cage. The fact that they are here indicates that there are too many unwanted Budgies out there. Rescue groups are full of them too. If you aren't sure about how to care for Nazu and Nunu properly, ask to put them "on hold" while you do some research. Even though these two are small, they need a big amount of care and attention. But they are definitely worth it! (See Nunu's card for more care information.)

Nunu & Nazu
1 year old
Female
Budgie

Nunu came to the Rohnert Park shelter as a stray. We thought she would like a friend and brought her here to meet Nazu. They fell in bird love the minute we put them together! They were so happy to have a friend to sing and talk to. Budgies, on average, can live to be 15-20 years old. Both of these two are young so their new family should be ready to make a big commitment. Even though these two live in a cage they still need daily attention. Talking to them is an easy way to remind them that they are loved. Budgies make great additions to a home. With their beautiful chatter and singing you'll definitely be calmer! Spend some time with Nunu and Nazu. You'll soon realize why so many people enjoy having Budgies as pets! (See Nazu's card for more care information.)

Weeble
5 month old
Male
Hamster

Poor Weeble was left with hundred's at a shelter in the Los Angeles area and was picked on. But fortunately rescue groups stepped in and saved him! Now he is here with us and looking for his forever home. Like all hamsters he prefers to sleep during the day and party at night! Although he's not cranky if you wake him during the day, he would just prefer you didn't. Weeble's new family should give him at least one night to settle in before the socializing starts. Letting him get used to smells and sounds in a new environment will put them at ease. Weeble is so cute ...we know who ever meets him will fall in love with him!

Sophia
2 year old
Female
Leopard Gecko

Sophia has come to MHS looking for a new home. Her previous guardian took very good care of her, as evidenced by her vibrant condition and Rubenesque figure. She would like to find a family willing to offer her the same kindness for the remainder of her potentially very long life - Leopard Geckos can live over 20 years! She will need a large terrarium or wooden enclosure with proper heating, substrate and several hiding places. She should be fed large calcium-dusted crickets and mealworms, about twice a week for now as she has a little bit more body weight than she needs. Looking for a quiet, unassuming, long-term friend? Consider Sophia!

Sandy
Young Adult
Lovebird

Sandy, a Peach-faced Lovebird, was as a stray in Novato. Keep in mind that Lovebirds can be very noisey. If you live in an apartment or condo, you might want to think twice. Lovebirds, on average, live to be 15-20 years old. Some have lived to be 30! Lovebirds are part of the Parrot family and need a lot of care. If you aren't sure this is the right bird for you, do some research first. They are definitely worth the time.

Duff
1 year old
Male
Guinea Pig

Duff is soooo cute and such a sweetie. He was brought here by rescue, via the Sacramento SPCA. They ended up having too many gp's in their shelter. And even though small, gp's do need a lot of attention. As with all GP's it's best to go slow. That will put them more at ease, plus being prey animals they can get scared very easily. Duff is easy to pick up and hold. With proper care and housing, Duff could live to be 5-6 years of age. That's many more years to give and receive love! Spend some time with this sweetie and you'll see why so many people love having a Guinea Pig be part of their family.

Peter
3 year old
Male
Guinea Pig

Peter and Squirt are too adorable gp's that became recent friends. We introduced them and they became best buds! We think these two would be great for any family. As with all GP's it's best to go slow. That will put them more at ease, plus being prey animals they can get scared very easily. Spend some time with these two boys. You'll see why so many families love to have GP's be part of theirs! (See Squirt's card for more care information.)

Squirt
Adult
Male
Guinea Pig

Squirt, by far, is one of the most outgoing, easy, sweet and wonderful gp's we've ever had here. And Peter is very sweet and easy to handle too. Unlike most piggies, these two are pretty easy to pick-up. Of course they prefer not to be, but if done patiently and slowly they stay pretty calm. And, once placed on laps they settle down quickly. This is the best place to socialize...on a lap where lots of petting and scratching on their heads can be done. They are bonded and must be adopted together. But that's a good thing. GP's are considerably happier when they have a friend...just like people! On average GP's live to be 5-6 years old. These boy's still have several more years on them! That's plenty of time to give their new family lots of love. (See Peter's card for more care/feeding information.)

Stainmaster
Adult
Carpet Python

This large and handsome Carpet Python is looking for an experienced reptile keeper who knows how to handle and care for snappy, high-strung snakes. Set him up in a large, arboreal enclosure equipped with numerous branches and real or fake plants. Make sure to keep his cage warm and elevate the humidity well during shed cycles. Feed him a medium frozen/thawed rat every 10-14 days and he should remain content for many years to come.

Furry
1 year old
Male
Hamster

Robo hamsters, like Furry, are a very gentle breed. Furry is very easy to pick-up but being a Robo hamster doesn't like to be held. He's really fast, so you have to be very confident when you go to get him. Fortunately Robo hamsters don't bite! Furry's new family should give him at least one night to settle in before socializing starts. (With hamsters it's always better to go slow, letting them get used to smells and sounds in a new environment will put them at ease.) Hamster's like this are very fast and active. They can only see an inch or two in front of them, so they are prone to falling if not supervised. Robo hamsters live on average 3 years. Ask to meet little Furry and you'll see why we so many people fall for these wee ones!
